Pallavi is the founder and creative director at Roar, recognized by global media (Frame and Interior Design Magazine) as emerging designer to watch out for and Roar is described by Architectural digest “One of the hottest boutique design companies in the UAE”
Pallavi is a trained architect and sustainability specialist, she’s won multiple awards for work across a range of sectors including commercial, hospitality and residential. She was born in India, raised in Dubai and spent years working in London; her designs reflect these eclectic influences.
A former professor of interior design at the American University of Sharjah, she strives to implement the latest theoretical and practical research into the firm’s designs. She is an active member of the UAE design community, writing for industry publications, assisting with key trade events and mentoring students in the region. Her work has been profiled in some of the world’s leading international media including the Financial times, the BBC, Monocle, Wallpaper and the Architectural Digest.
In 2019 Roar is collaborating with psychologist Briar Jacques on a piece of detailed research into workplace usage and design in the Middle East. It’s under wraps at the moment, but they can’t wait to share the findings later in 2019.
Launched in 2013 as Pallavi Dean Interiors, the studio rebranded as Roar in September 2018. Flagship projects include the Delano Dubai hotel, UAE offices for media firm Edelman, and The Nursery of the Future for the UAE Prime Minister’s Office. Roar goal is simple : give people an amazing experience in the spaces they design. The staff in an office; the family at home; the children in school; the guests in a restaurant – Roar team wake up and go to work for them. At heart they’re a bunch of feel good hippies who put self-help gurus and positive psychologists on the same pedestal as acclaimed architects. They believe this upbeat energy makes a real difference to the work they deliver.
Roar studio pour its heart and soul into the local design community. They teach university courses, run an active intern programme, promote local talent, contribute to design fairs, and share their knowledge through the media. The team of eight designers is based at the Roar studio in Dubai Design District. Awards include Boutique Firm of the Year at the 2017 Commercial Interior Design.
