HISTORICAL HANOI 2013

The rejuvenation of the lakefront area and the design of a new square in a city as Hanoi, couldn’t exclude , in our opinion, a deep analysis of the social life, abstracting those elements which will characterize and will become foundation of our project.

Lights, colours, sounds and a continuous flux of people and vehicles merge together in a chaotic way, giving to the city a vital vibration in every single moment of the day.

Those are the elements we considered in our analysis, with the purpose of developing them and exalting their qualities, reinterpreting their meaning and looking for new solutions that might change the actual scenery and the urban assessment that nowadays is constrained by the vehicular traffic. 

 THE THREE URBAN ACTIONS

 Programmatic subdivision of the area

A new large area is so defined through the relocation of the traffic. We subdivide it into three big thematic areas according to the presence of the main buildings of public interest and of the activities carried out by the citizens.

1.   The urban area

2.   The commercial boulevard

3.   The cultural and religious boulevard.

 Relocation of the vehicular traffic and creation of a pedestrian area all along the lake

Our first consideration was focused to relocate and moving away from the lakefront the vehicular flux and consequently to strongly reduce the unbearable noise persisting in the everyday city life.

However, we have guaranteed the access to the project area through the parking areas for motorcycles, buses and taxis.

 New connection between the historical landmarks

Through the  intervention of relocating  the traffic, the actual square area becomes barycentric between the cultural and historical landmarks  such as the Hoam Kiem Lake and the 36 street district in the historical city centre. In this way they are physically and visually connected.

GENESYS OF THE SQUARE

The space that has been generated through the visual axes connecting the historical street and the lake is ideal for the insertion of a monolithic object, a platform that might function as an observation and connection podium between the lake and the historical street.

The idea of a plate comes from the intention of giving an univocal answer to the requirements and needs of a public place such as Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc square that needs  to gain a strong identity.

The platform becomes a landmark, a place of aggregation and a trade union between the modern and past buildings facing the area.

La riqualificazione dell’area del fronte lago e la progettazione di una nuova piazza in una città come Hanoi non poteva escludere l'analisi della vita sociale del luogo astraendo quegli elementi che la caratterizzano e diventano fondamento nel nostro progetto.

Luci e colori, suoni, flussi di persone e veicoli che si  fondono in modo caotico rendono viva la città in ogni momento della giornata, ma anche la vivacità della vita di strada, laddove si svolgono attività di ogni genere.

Sono questi gli elementi che abbiamo considerato valorizzandoli ed esaltandone le qualità, reinterpretandone il senso e cercando soluzioni che cambino lo scenario attuale e l’assetto urbanistico oggi troppo vincolato al traffico veicolare. 

 LE TRE AZIONI URBANE.

L'area è stata suddivisa in 3 grandi aree tematiche in base ai principali edifici di pubblico interesse e alle attività svolte dai cittadini.

1. L'area urbana

2. Il boulevard commerciale

3. Il boulevard della cultura e della religione.

La prima considerazione si è focalizzata sulla rilocalizzazione e lo spostamento del traffico veicolare dallo spazio a ridosso del lago, in modo da ridurre il rumore dei mezzi di trasporto che caratterizzano il ritmo quotidiano della città. Abbiamo comunque garantito alcuni accessi all'area e zone sosta per moto, autobus e taxi.

 Nuova connessione attraverso i punti di riferimento storici.

Attraverso l'intervento di rilocalizzazione del traffico, la piazza diventa uno spazio baricentrico tra i landmark culturali e storici, come il lago di Hoam Kiem e le 36 strade nel centro della città storica. In questo modo saranno fisicamente e visivamente connesse.

 GENESI DELLA PIAZZA

Lo spazio generato attraverso gli assi visuali che connettono la strada storica ed il lago è lo spazio ideale per accogliere un oggetto monolitico, che possa funzionare da piattaforma di osservazione e connessione dei punti (storici e naturalistici) che traguarda.

L'idea di posizionare un oggetto funzionale e allo stesso tempo simbolico risponde in maniera univoca alla richiesta di dare alla piazza Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc una propria e forte identità.

La piattaforma diventa così un landmark, un luogo di aggregazione e punto di congiunzione fra le facciate degli edifici storici e moderni.
