The newly – built family house is situated at the end of a cul-de-sac on the outskirts of a small village in Eastern part of the Czech Republic. The two – storey building has retained the requirements of the local area by having a gable roof, yet still has a modern, simple and compact shape. The dark colour of the wooden cladding is a result of burning the surface of the boards, which increases the resistance – not just to wind but also to fire. In contrast to the wooden facade, the windows and solid panels between them are designed in an ivory colour. The individual details of the building, like the roof without the overhangs or hidden gutters amplify its minimalist look. The building is divided into 3 diagonal wings. On the ground floor in the middle section is the entrance hall with a dressing room which opens onto the staircase. This is attached to the living area with a kitchen area and dining area on one side – and on the other side is the bathroom and bedroom. There is a hallway with a staircase, which opens on to a study with a library. There is a spacious bathroom next to the library. Above the living area there are 2 children‘s rooms. The house’s foundations have free air under the floor. The new build is made as a wooden construction with wooden KVH columns with isolation made of mineral wool and a diffuse open layout. The windows are wooden with 3 tier glass isolation measured exactly with fixed panels. The building is designed with low energy and low maintenance coast standard.
