Pub Pod Skalco | Nina Galic

Pub pod Skalco is a bar with a reputation for being the best student bar in the old town centre of Ljubljana. It wansn't an easy task to renovate it and keep the spitit of the old worn out place, that had his own vibe. 

The idea was to make the interior as homely as posible, so the old costumers would not get the real feeling of renovation. I included blackboards all ower the place, even the bar counter, the walls, the celling, the toalet doors where people can write and leeve there "footprint"...make the place their own.

I included blackboards all ower the place, even the bar counter, the walls, the ceiling, the toalet doors where people can write and leave there "footprint"... MAKE THE PLACE THEIR OWN.

On the walls there are graphics of old worn out bikes and 3D plastering where the graphics continue trough the wall.

There are swings instead of bar chairs to encourage the interaction between people.

The floor is made of brick and some of the walls are left with a concrete feel to it.

The name of the place "Pod Skalco" in Slovenian language translates as the pub under a rock, so we made a 3D rock and hang it on the celling.

All trough the space there is dim led lightening so the place can easily transform from daily to a night bar.

To conclude...Pub pod Skalco is not just a BAR, it is a place that provokes us to brake the boundaries that each and every one of use often faces.
