Rosebud House responds to the constraints of site, budget, and family.

The site was a recently subdivided block, purchased with the intent of owner building a home for a young family with a constrained budget.

The brief was to provide spacious living and bedroom areas, without compromising municipal guidelines, privacy issues, and budget.

Three concepts came to light in proving these qualities while minimising cost.

Raising the Finished floor off natural ground level gave opportunity to “borrow landscape” from the surrounding neighbours and beyond, which relieved the client from continually looking out the window and staring at a fence line.
Raise the roof, this allowed the smaller designed living areas to breathe better, and provide additional light to the internal areas.
Use the unique angles of the site to “stretch” the bedrooms, and allow longer and narrow amenities.
 

Overall, the design was successful, and achieved a comfortable space for a young growing family; the budget was stretched but still manageable.
