For this project, Vanessa transformed her waterfront Marin home, putting a fresh spin on a rustic beach look. The designer created a sophisticated family home influenced by her and her husband’s shared passion for surfing. Combining her husband’s passions for boating and watersports with her own penchant for travel, Vanessa created textured beach-inspired interiors that highlight her Balinese artifacts and antiques.

Melding both her and her husband’s tastes and interests, Vanessa included her husband's surfboards and leather furniture into the design while remaining true to her own glamorous, textured aesthetic. With a teenager and a three-year-old at home, Vanessa catered her design towards her children’s needs, using washable slipcovers and including a daybed to be used for extra space for overnight guests.

The Marin home’s interior plays really nicely with its stunning views of the water and Mount Tam. With a fully renovated interior and beautiful views, it’s hard to believe that the home was originally decorated with cheap tile, Pergo flooring, old carpets, and inexpensive hardware.
