A 188-metre tower looms against the sky of Amman, the first emblematic urban statement at the heart of the Jordanian capital, an emerging economic platform and cosmopolitan city of two million inhabitants. Designed by the agency Architecture-Studio, this building, stretched like a bow, houses the Amman Rotana Hotel (412 rooms and suites), an upscale hotel that is part of the UAE-based Rotana hotel chain, which manages many hotels worldwide.

A striking landmark in the city with its aluminium brise-soleils, this “contextual” tower stands out with its silhouette, which sometimes suggests slender curves and sometimes –from the direction of the airport– appears to be hollowed-out. These focal points emphasize the anchoring of this high-rise building in the city around.

The building’s synergy also extends to the design of the podium at the base of the tower, conceived as a glazed volume in harmony with the public space. Connected via vast atriums, cafés, restaurants, lounges, conference centres and a Spa with panoramic views over the Al Abdali district. Architecture-Studio has designed two other towers here, currently under construction, forming an emblematic gateway to the heart of the city. Around a peristyle formed by the brise-soleils, on the 6th floor, a panoramic pool, terraces and loggias enhance the dynamic character of this tower, visible for miles around and from as far away as the adjacent desert.
