Waterbeat Society is the first and only hydrospinning center in Italy. It is located in the
heart of Milan, just around the corner from the Duomo.
The project is organized on two levels, plus a mezzanine: The ground floor houses the
reception, a small waiting area and the three massage cabins, two inside the velvet
cocoons on the mezzanine floor and one in the area behind the cashier.
The lower floor is the real heart of the center: the swimming pool, which fits 13 bikes. At
the same level there is a waiting room and the changing/locker rooms for men and
women.
Waterbeat Society was conceived and designed as an innovative
place, significantly different from any fitness gym you are used to.
WBS is a place where "cool", "friendly" and "pop" are the key words, connoting an
innovative character able to convey a fresh and colorful mood. The goal was to make your
feel immediately Californian atmospheres.
The colors of the project focuse on a range of green, light blue and blue, walls and ceilings
are pervaded by the freshness of these colors.
The choice of contamination of the project is also defined by the atypical choice of
materials, starting from the reception desk, which is covered in white tiles with
colored joints, a material which is in strong contrast with the velvet that covers
the cocoon on the mezzanine. The trait d'union between these elements is the
staircase leading to the mezzanine level, entirely covered in perforated, white,
clean and simple metal sheets.
The wall behind the reception desk is covered in wallpaper that incorporates the logo and
the foliage symbol of Waterbeat Society. Above all, suspended and unexpected you will
find the motto of Waterbeat Society: BE A HYDROLOVER, a pink neon sign that stands
out in the air, with a touch of innocent boldness typical of this project.
An iconic glass elevator leads downstairs.
The eye is immediately captured by the natural cement stucco wall on which stands the
pink neon that shows the logo.
From the waiting room it is possible to see the swimming pool through a large
window.Through a long, white and bright corridor, a sort of chromatic pause, you can
access the male and female changing rooms and the pool.
The acces to the pool is through a short straircase, here the back wall is covered in waterrepellent
wallpaper, on which there are logo and foliage. The niches, used for storing
exercise tools and showers, are covered with the same tiles present in the reception.
Changing rooms are characterized by very fresh accents. Here there is a game of two
colors, water blue for women and blue for men, while the showers are covered in white
tiles, with black grout in this case. Strong and characterizing elements, unexpected
materials and bright colors are the ingredients that characterize Waterbeat Society, an
innovative place, which is the result of the contamination of different cultures, inspirations
and passions.
