Located in the Austrian town of Fußach, directly in the Rhine-Delta landscape and nature reserve, the harbor Rohner offers nature and sailing enthusiasts an idyllic leisure area on the southeastern shore of Lake Constance. At the beginning of the 2000s, the formerly located gravel pit had been converted into a marina and with a gentle redesign the whole area was given a new structure. In 2008, the Nordwesthaus was built. Not far from the mouth of the Rhine, at the edge of moorings, the Baumschlager Eberle architects positioned the biomorphic monolith of free-formed in-situ concrete with a translucent coating of crystalline frosted glass. The almost supernatural-looking cube grows out of the water in strict geometry and stands in stark contrast to the surrounding nature of the harbor environment.
