This new opera house is located on Fenyang and Huaihai Road. The building has a great public entrance at the corner of these two important streets of the historical French district. Rather than a massive unique building the opera is built as a sequence of pavilions, following the rhythm and the height of the existing architecture including, on Fenyang road the existing recent building of the conservatory. The color and texture of the pavilions is respecting a brick pattern aspect.
The opera house, belongs to the Conservatory of Shanghai. It provides to students and teachers a toll for practicing Opera in real condition. It is also conceived to be a high standard public hall for music, with a high level acoustical quality and international standards scenographic equipment.

Ce nouvel opéra est situé sur Fenyang et Huaihai Road. Le bâtiment s’ouvre par une grande entrée publique à l’angle de ces deux importantes rues du quartier français historique. Plutôt qu’une construction massive d’une seule pièce, l’opéra est conçu comme une série de pavillons, s’harmonisant avec le rythme et la hauteur des bâtiments environnants et notamment avec ceux du récent conservatoire sur la rue Fenyang. La couleur et la texture des pavillons s’inspirent des motifs de brique.
L’opéra appartient à l’ensemble du Conservatoire de Shanghai. Il permet aux étudiants et professeurs de pratiquer en situation réelle. Le bâtiment est également une salle de de musique publique de haut niveau technique, avec acoustique aux meilleures normes et équipement scénographique de standard international.
