Therme Meran | monovolume architecture + design

As a historic spa town, the city of Merano has attracted guests from all over the world for centuries. Following this tradition, a new thermal spa was built in the centre of the city in the early 2000s. monovolume architecture + design was entrusted with the task of upgrading the outdated bistro area by redesigning it and visually adapting it to the rest of the spa building.

The result is a combination of regional design and modern minimalism. Clear lines and restrained colours create an inviting, elegant and at the same time functional ambience. The bistro is decorated in earthy colours, giving the premises a pleasant and calming atmosphere and continuing the relaxation of the thermal guests in the bistro. As a result, it blends seamlessly into the spa's structure. Particular attention was paid to the different surface textures of the materials. The slickness and rigidity of the stoneware counter, for example, contrast with the softness of the velvet seating. A harmonious interplay of colour, texture, material and form transforms the bistro into a space of constant aesthetic stimulation.

A precise analysis of the movement sequences resulted in a functional optimisation that made it possible to expand the self-service area with the bar and at the same time create more seating.

Eintauchen in die Entspannung
Als historischer Kurort zieht die Stadt Meran seit Jahrhunderten Gäste aus dem In- und Ausland an. Anknüpfend an diese Tradition entstand Anfang der 2000er Jahre ein neues Thermalbad im Zentrum der Stadt. monovolume architecture + design wurde mit der Aufgabe betraut, den in die Jahre gekommenen Bistrobereich der Therme durch eine Neugestaltung aufzuwerten und optisch an den restlichen Thermenbau anzupassen.

Das Ergebnis ist eine Kombination aus regionalem Design und modernem Minimalismus. Klare Linien und zurückhaltende Farben schaffen ein einladendes, elegantes und zugleich funktionales Ambiente. Das Bistro ist in erdigen Farben gehalten, was den Räumlichkeiten eine angenehme und beruhigende Atmosphäre verleiht und die Erholung der Thermalgäste im Bistro fortführt. Dadurch fügt es sich sanft in die Thermenstruktur ein. Besonderes Augenmerk wurde auf die unterschiedliche Oberflächenbeschaffenheit der Materialen gelegt. Die Glätte und Härte der Theke aus Steingut kontrastieren beispielsweise mit der Weichheit der Sitzflächen aus Samt. Ein harmonisches Zusammenspiel aus Farbe, Textur, Material und Form verwandelt das Bistro in einen Raum der ständigen ästhetischen Verführung.

Eine genaue Analyse der Bewegungsabläufe hatte eine funktionale Optimierung zur Folge, die es ermöglichte, den Self-Service-Bereich mit der Bar zu erweitern und gleichzeitig mehr Sitzplätze zu schaffen.

Un tuffo nel relax
La città di Merano, storica cittadina termale attrae da anni turisti da tutto il mondo. Per ampliare lo storico stabilimento, all'inizio degli anni 2000 è stato costruito un nuovo nucleo termale nel centro della città. monovolume architecture + design è stato incaricato di riqualificare l'area bistrot delle terme, ripensandola e riadattandola visivamente all’edificio storico. Il risultato è una combinazione di design classico-contemporaneo. 

Gli interni sono caratterizzati da linee chiare e colori sobri che creano un ambiente invitante ed elegante, ma al tempo stesso funzionale. Il bistrot è colorato con tonalità dal color terra, dando ai locali un'atmosfera piacevole e calmante a tutti gli ospiti termali nel bistrot. Le diverse texture dei materiali sono state adeguatamente studiate: la lucidità e la rigidità del bancone in gres, per esempio, contrastano con la morbidezza delle sedute in velluto. 

Un armonioso gioco di colori, texture, materiali e forme trasformano il bistrot in uno spazio attraente dove potersi rilassare. Lo spazio è stato ottimizzato, ampliando l'area self-service con il bar e aumentando i posti a sedere.
