Far Homestay is the love nest of a young couple in Danang, who seeks to start a homestay business in their locality near An Bang Beach, Hoian.

The house is situated less than 200 meters from the An Bang beach, surrounded by largely untouched wilderness. An Bang beach itself is admired for its quiet beauty, with peaceful waves crashing slowly onto the ivory shore. This is truly the ideal location for a tranquil homestay.

For this project, D1 aims to capitalize on the advantage of the beautiful landscape, to create a design that blends with nature, while also maintaining a sense of privacy for the guest areas. The main challenge is the project budget is relatively low, yet the floor area upon which the homestay was to be built is quite spacious. Cost optimization is the priority in this project.

D1 Architectural Studio's solution is to replace brick walls with recycled glass and curtains to reduce costs, at the same time limit decoration details. The architects built the home with mainly locally available, natural materials that are easy to build without demanding finishing work, and require little maintenance.

While wood was the main materials used for flooring and creating an overall texture for the interior space, D1 Architectural Studio also combined a wide range of traditional materials, such as whetstone, rough-cut fieldstones and bamboo... Through the skillful hands of local artisans, the authentic soul of Hoi An is infused into these very basic, ordinary materials.

Natural materials such as light wood and bamboo helps Far Homestay blend harmoniously with the surrounding nature. The home’s social areas are all open plan and positioned in ways that guests can enjoy the majestic ocean view in the distance.

Designed for private couples and vacationers who seek to reside in tranquility, the homestay honors a beauty that is classic and rustic, yet modern. Ordinary materials such as glass, wood, and stone are seamlessly woven together to connect the interior and exterior of the building.

The deep colors and textures of the interior palette and natural exterior materials used provide a rich backdrop to the sweeping views. The interior spaces are customised to honor individual experiences. While the thin bamboo curtains enable connection with the outside world, the space inside is made to be as private as possible, providing a peaceful and poetic experience for guests residing at the house.
