Zhengzhou City, a metropolis on the Yellow River, is the capital of East-Central China's Henan Province. With a history dating to Neolithic times, it's notable as the ancient Shang dynasty capital, whose earthen walls still stand in the city center. It's also home to the pyramid-shaped Henan Museum, where cultural exhibits from prehistory and early China include jade and musical instruments.
It is one of the National Central Cities in China and serves as the political, economic, technological, and educational center of the province, as well as a major transportation hub in China (highway, railway, aviation and communication).
