Most important rooms: hallway, kitchen, living room, master bedroom and bathroom, 3 more bedrooms, each one having a shower room, and an annexe.

The farm has been in the family for generations, originally serving as a vacation home. Surrounded by fields in the neighbourhood of Ghent, the son (new owner) decided to make this his permanent home, preserving its rustic charm, while updating its interiors.

Inside, chalk plaster walls create a timeless and textured mood, complemented by oak veneer reminiscent of the farmhouse’s original beams.

Other materials used are “forest green” natural stone and the floors are a very subtle terrazzo. These are the only materials, consistently used throughout the home.

As an extra touch, we placed cannage panels in the master bathroom and dressing room - it enhances the home’s character and adds texture and transparency.

The focal point of the home is the chubby staircase that curves to the first floor. The staircase can be seen from an important axis through the low, curved passway.

To compensate for the low ceilings of the old farmhouse, the kitchen and annexe utilize the full height of the roof, maximizing space and light.

The decoration and furniture of the home is mostly chosen in calm colours - but for the annexe, that is designated for entertainment and hosting, the furniture is more playful.
