The Department of Culture of the municipality of San Pedro Garza García, in Nuevo León, México, organized an open call for projects of urban art to be located at Centrito Valle, the commercial heart of the city since the 1940s, which underwent an urban renewal in the last couple of years, transforming to complete streets, with accessible sidewalks, bike lanes, trees and underground infrastructure. The Prolonged Instants Pavilion proposal by LGZ arquitectura + Daniel Lara Ballesteros was selected.

The primary aim behind this installation is to aspire to the permanence of the pedestrians. The public space hoping to be regarded as a place of tranquility, more than a place of transience, a non-place. A pause in the shade of a cover and trees, surrounded by aromatic vegetation: rosemary, jasmine, mint. An oasis for the senses. Hanging PVC tubes with hanging beads inside, which deny their industrial origin and which, when swaying in the wind, evoke the sound of bamboo in riparian environments. In a great coincidence, the streets of Centrito Valle are named as rivers to which this proposal refers.

Urban furniture with stone-like appearance; a light, floated, red painted cover suspended over the red painted pavement. This structure frames the pedestrian routes of the renovated sidewalks of the Centrito Valle, in the same manner of the Torii, traditional red Japanese portals that mark a transition in the path of the wanderer. Finally, the series of hanging plastic tubes, of different lengths, tuned to different sound frequencies for an immersive and relaxing experience. The roof offers a haven of shade during the day, and offers artificial lighting as a landmark in the night.
