YODEZEEN, the Miami-based international design firm co-founded by Artur Sharf and Artem Zverev, officially unveils its latest luxury residential marvel, “Sombra House,'' located in the leafy Castelldefels district of Barcelona. For the creation of a 750-square-meter (approximately 2,460-square-foot) private villa, YODEZEEN manifested a distinct architectural language that pays homage to the color pallets and flora of the Catalan capital with contemporary updates, materials and fixtures to create a private home that embodies both time and place.

The layout of Sombra House was meticulously planned to cater to the lifestyle and specifications of a private resident, including three bedrooms, two children’s rooms, an office, communal living spaces, a spa and wellness area with sauna, indoor and outdoor pools, garage, kitchen and several terraces and outdoor spaces. The plans were based around creating vibrant and extravagant spaces that utilize durable materials suitable for a household with pets, and ensuring the design lies in harmony with the challenging jagged topography of the site. YODEZEEN not only conceptualized the design but also took charge of project implementation, while also overseeing construction.

Inspired by Barcelona’s sun-kissed terroir, corten steel facades were chosen for their vibrant and natural appeal. The property’s rusty hue color, Arabic language insignia on the facades, and transparent glass inserts as load-bearing "walls" collectively brought the conceptualized design to life. Every detail, from the staircase's ceramic and brass composition to the complex geometry of the lift core, reflected YODEZEEN’s commitment to innovative and intriguing design and aesthetic choices.

Sombra House includes an essential customization to solidify the identity of the residence, including the implementation of bespoke elements such as the turquoise dining area shelf by rare natural materials brand Teyo and its precision-crafted nano-technology finishes, which are crucial in defining the distinctive character of the home. The result is a residence that seamlessly blends Spanish architectural influence with YODEZEEN's distinctive flair, meeting the clients' desires for a bright, extravagant, and functional family home.

Sombra House follows recently completed and upcoming projects by the prolific architecture and design studio, including Bal Harbour Club in Miami; two new residential villas in Aspen and Madrid; penthouse apartments in Miami and several commercial projects in the U.S., UAE and Europe.
