This project, located on a hill in the historical city center of Vilnius, overlooks the entire cityscape of the historic Oldtown. As such, the objective for this interior was to create something that would not compete with the views, but rather provide a space of quiet elegance and timeless design from which to enjoy them.  Each detail was considered to keep the space light, fresh and airy rather than overcrowding the interior with items of design that want all attention on them. Careful consideration went into choosing materials and items of contemporary design that spoke with the historic nature of the building itself rather than overpowering it.

As this interior is located in an 18th century building located in a former monastery complex, some of the interior walls were nearly a meter thick, so the layout of the apartment required a great deal of care to get right. The first floor is dedicated to a large combined living and dining room together with a large 4,2 m long island kitchen. This floor also houses a cloakroom by the entrance and a small washroom. The second floor is dedicated to two bedroom suites. The master bedroom features not only windows and balcony with the view of the Vilnius cityscape, but also a glass wall opens up the space overlooking the dining room. Further inside there is  a spacious on suite bathroom with double showers and basins and a large room for the wardrobes. The kids bedroom also has a spacious on suite with a large bath and a shower.

A light color scheme was chosen for this project, with white walls paired with a bi-color light wood parquet, smoked oak for the furniture and light brass detailing. To best convey the tranquility of the natural surroundings, preference was given to natural materials for all the parts of the interior: custom pattern wood flooring which blends seamlessly into micro mosaics in the washrooms, natural stone coverings for the walls, smoked wood and marble for the furniture and natural fiber coverings for the soft furniture. All the furniture and details used in the project were carefully picked for their reserved yet timeless design – so that each room on the whole remains unified with an air of tranquility, but with small details infused with effortless elegance.
