Sundukovy Sisters Design & Architecture Studio envisioned a place where guests could immerse themselves in the allure of Nairobi's history and nature, with playful gems and captivating reflections - each element telling a story. Whether seeking relaxation, jungle serenity, or a unique business experience, guests would be enveloped in the Gem Forest Nairobi MGallery Collection's narrative. With owner Jigar Patel's strong support and trust, we began an adventure to create more than just a city center hotel; we aimed to forge a vibrant new experience in Nairobi.

Storytelling Vision

The vision for Gem Forest Hotel in Nairobi by MGallery draws inspiration from Nairobi's history, which translates to "Cool Waters." The owners' family has a background in gems manufacturing, and we aim to reflect this heritage alongside the beauty of surrounding nature.

We aimed to build a hotel and create an immersive journey that tells the story of Nairobi, connects guests with the owners' family roots, and offers a modern-style retreat.

Bringing Nature Indoors

In every part of the Gem Forest Hotel, you'll notice unique things that show the culture of Nairobi. Let's start at the entrance. There's an incredible waterfall coming down the stairs, reminding you of Nairobi's refreshing waters. When you enter the lobby, it's like a forest in Nairobi, with banana trees and ponds. You'll also see beautiful art made by local artists, showing Kenya's spirit.

Reflective Play and Gems Prism Aesthetics

The design incorporates reflective surfaces and geometric patterns to create captivating light and shadow plays reminiscent of precious gems and prisms.

Mirrors, glass panels, and faceted surfaces are strategically placed to enhance spatial dynamics and add depth to the overall atmosphere. We used plastic films, dichroic glass finishes, and plexiglass coverings to add some reflective effects to the space, making it visually attractive without going overboard.

Natural-Inspired Design

Guest Room design at Gem Forest Nairobi MGallery Collection features a neutral beige backdrop, allowing decorative elements to shine. Key features include nature-inspired decor with green fabrics, emerald rugs, and live plants, creating a serene ambiance. Strategically placed bed lighting casts gem-like reflections on the walls, while glossy bed legs and dichroic glass shower finishes enhance the play of light. A bedside mirror amplifies space and light. Decorative touches include a chandelier shaped like a gemstone-adorned ring earring and fringed furniture, adding glamour and charm. These elements combine to create a refreshing, dynamic, and sophisticated space.

Swimming Pool

The innovative design solution for the swimming pool area. We transformed the pool-facing rooms by creating a mesmerizing experience. Instead of a wall, we installed a window facing the water, turning it into a living aquarium. Now, guests can soak in the pool's beauty from their balconies, immersing themselves in the serene ambiance.

A Gem in the Sky: Rooftop Bar & Mediterranean Restaurant Design

The central circular bar, shimmering like a gem, captivates guests. Cozy seating nooks ensure that everyone enjoys the breathtaking scenery. The bar's glowing, gem-like reflection is visible from the street, inviting passersby. The decor is dominated by serene white and azure tones, evoking Mediterranean beauty. Lighting fixtures resembling fishermen's ropes add an authentic coastal charm to the ambiance.
