The project involves the comprehensive renovation of a 130-square-meter residence located on the top floor of a four-story building.

The original layout, which was excessively compartmentalized, had the daytime areas separated, with the living room and kitchen located at opposite ends, connected by a long hallway that provided access to the bedrooms.

The house's unique features, such as its corner location facing a square and the presence of a private patio, were integrated into the intervention, which proposed a reconfiguration of the functional layout by opting for more open spaces and implementing solutions to mitigate the depth perception of the residence.

In this regard, the first decision was to remove partitions and reorganize the spaces, concentrating the public areas in the south wing and the private rooms in the west wing. This operation allowed for part of the structure to be exposed, highlighting two reinforced concrete beams that defined the guidelines of the new project and served as elements that determined the formal definition of the intervention.

Contrary to the hierarchical distribution of uses, a wooden pine skin runs throughout the residence, integrating all the rooms.

At the entrance, this skin coils around itself to create a reception space with a distinctive character that acts as a filter. Beyond this, the living room, dining room, and kitchen (where a concrete brick wall has been recovered) are sequentially arranged in a single space that enhances the corner condition of the residence, promoting cross ventilation and maximizing views of the urban landscape.

The skin unfolds to enclose the patio and accompany the bedrooms, reducing the apparent length of the hallway and integrating the entrances to the private areas and wet areas, which are distinguished by the prominent use of color. The use of large mirrored surfaces on different planes distorts the geometry of the rooms and enhances spatial perceptions, ultimately completing the interior landscape of the residence.
