Perched on a hillside in Chilak, Mazandaran, Iran, the Damon Villa stands as a testament to the seamless integration of architectural design with the region’s natural environment. Drawing inspiration from the local climate and the inhabitants’ deep connection to nature, this villa exemplifies both functionality and aesthetic appeal.

The architectural style prevalent in Mazandaran owes much to the area’s mild and wet climate. To protect dwellings from the damp earth, houses are elevated on sturdy stilts. Roofed Ivans, encircling the buildings, serve as both a defence against rain and a conduit for natural ventilation. This spatial arrangement not only safeguards the structures but also reflects the symbiotic relationship between the local community and their surroundings.

The Damon Villa seamlessly marries negative and positive spaces, echoing the vernacular building practices of the region. Residents experience a harmonious blend of indoor and outdoor realms, fostering a sense of unity with nature. The design process was guided by an unwavering desire: to celebrate the breathtaking views that this coastal environment offers.

The primary living areas, strategically elevated from ground level, afford sweeping vistas of the sea. Here, residents can immerse themselves in the changing hues of the horizon, their connection to the natural world uninterrupted.

The ground floor accommodates practical necessities. Parking facilities and the guest room find their place here, ensuring privacy for the more intimate zones of the villa.

Ascending to the second floor, one encounters the heart of the villa. The living room and private bedrooms open up to panoramic views stretching north and south. Large windows frame the landscape, inviting sunlight and fresh breezes.

Deliberate use of semi-open spaces blurs the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. These transitional zones allow natural air circulation, enhancing comfort and well-being.

The first-floor Ivan hosts a mesmerizing infinity pool. Positioned to capture the sea’s expanse, it becomes a focal point—a tranquil oasis that simultaneously shields the villa’s residents from prying eyes.

The Damon Villa exemplifies architectural poetry—a symphony of form, function, and nature. It invites us to pause, breathe, and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. As the sun sets over the Mazandaran coast, this villa stands as a testament to the enduring dialogue between human creativity and the elements.
