A modernist apartment in Gdynia | Em2 Pracownia Projektowa

Gdynia Wzgórze Maksymiliana is one of the most interesting and distinctive places in Gdynia in terms of urban planning and architecture. Buildings from the 1950s, especially those in the modernist style, have their own unique aesthetics that are often appreciated by architecture enthusiasts. Such places, which have preserved their historical identity and character, are an important part of the city's cultural heritage.

When undertaking the design of an apartment located in this district, we approached the project with respect for the era in which this part of the city was built. At the outset, we changed the functional layout of the apartment to suit the needs of the new residents. We combined the kitchen with the living room, creating a space that encourages communication and integration among residents. We wanted to maintain a subtle visual boundary between the kitchen and the rest of the living room, so we retained a fragment of the original wall, which creates a rounded frame for the kitchen. We also visually enlarged the kitchen by using a mirror, which creates an illusion of depth and additionally reflects light.

Our clients are discerning individuals who value both history and the objects that surround them. Therefore, in our design, you can find vintage furniture that harmoniously blends with modern elements. It is this combination of the past with the present that gives the interior a unique character, creating an atmosphere that is both functional and full of personal charm.

The bookshelf in the living room was designed by us to reference the rounded transition between the living room and the kitchen. The rounded corners give it a soft character, and placing it in a wall niche ensures it does not take up too much space in the small living room.

The bathroom is a very small room, but we managed to fit a walk-in shower. A distinctive and strong element is the floor with tiles arranged in a checkerboard pattern, which appears in both the bathroom and the kitchen, giving the spaces a cohesive character.

The wall in the bedroom, combined with the workspace, is undoubtedly the most unexpected element of our design. We decided to strip it of paint and partially of plaster, revealing an extraordinary, unique pattern. This wall resembles impressionist paintings by van Gogh, with harmonious and delicate nuances of yellow that create a remarkable atmosphere in this room. This wall becomes the focal point, adding depth and character to the entire space.

Gdynia Wzgórze Maksymiliana to jedno z ciekawszych i charakterystycznych miejsc w Gdyni pod względem urbanistycznym i architektonicznym. Budynki z lat 50., szczególnie te w stylu modernistycznym, mają swoją własną unikalną estetykę, która często jest ceniona przez miłośników architektury. Takie miejsca, które zachowały swoją historyczną tożsamość i charakter, są ważnym elementem dziedzictwa kulturowego miasta.

Podejmująć się zaprojektowania mieszkania zlokalizowanego w tej dzielnicy podeszliśmy z szacunkiem do okresu, w którym powstała ta część miasta. Na wstępie zmieniliśmy układ funkcjonalny mieszkania, dopasowując go do potrzeb nowych mieszkańców, połączyliśmy kuchnię z salonem, tworzy to przestrzeń, która sprzyja komunikacji i integracji między mieszkańcami. Chcieliśmy utrzymać delikatną wizualną granicę między kuchnią, a resztą salonu w tym celu zachowaliśmy fragment oryginalnej ściany, która tworzy zaokrągloną ramę dla kuchni. Powiększyliśmy też optycznie kuchnię poprzez zastosowanie lustra, które tworzy złudzenie głębi, dodatkowo odbija światło.

Nasi inwestorzy to świadomi ludzie, którzy cenią zarówno historię, jak i przedmioty, które ich otaczają. Dlatego w naszym projekcie można znaleźć meble vintage, które harmonijnie współgrają z nowoczesnymi elementami. To właśnie połączenie przeszłości z teraźniejszością nadaje wnętrzu unikalnego charakteru, tworząc atmosferę, która jest zarówno funkcjonalna, jak i pełna osobistego uroku.

Regał w salonie został zaprojektowany przez nas w nawiązaniu do zaokrąglonego przejścia między salonem a kuchnią, zaoblone rogi nadają mu miękki charakter a umiejscowienie go we wnęce w ścianie sprawia, że nie zabiera za wiele miejsca z niewielkiej przestrzeni salonu.

Łazienka to bardzo małe pomieszczenie, ale udało nam się zmieścić w nim prysznic walk in, charakterystycznym i mocnym elementem jest posadzka z płytek ułożonych w szachownicę, która pojawia się zarówno w łazience ale też w kuchni nadając przestrzeniom spójny charakter.

Ściana w sypialni połączonej z miejscem do pracy jest zdecydowanie najmniej oczekiwanym elementem naszego projektu. Zdecydowaliśmy się na oczyszczenie jej z farby i częściowo z tynku, odkrywając tym samym niezwykły, niepowtarzalny wzór. Ta ściana przypomina impresjonistyczne obrazy van Gogha, z pełnymi harmonii i delikatnymi niuansami barwy żółtej, które tworzą niezwykłą atmosferę w tym pomieszczeniu. Ta ściana staje się centrum uwagi, dodając jednocześnie głębi i charakteru całemu pomieszczeniu.
