In the world of interior design, where art meets functionality, the true essence of a space often lies in the thoughtful balance between form and utility. This guiding principle drove the transformation of a 90 m² apartment in Moscow, crafted by the talented architect Ariana Ahmad. The young couple who owns this apartment had a clear vision: they wanted a home that was not only highly functional and comfortable but also a canvas for vibrant contemporary art.

The project commenced with a complete reconfiguration of the layout, starting with the redesign of the hallway, entrance wardrobe, living area, dining area, and kitchen. Ariana Ahmad also planned a master suite with its own bathroom and walk-in closet, a guest bathroom with an adjacent laundry area, and a home office. Integrating the balcony into the living area added an abundance of natural light, making the space feel even more expansive and airy.

Every detail of the apartment was meticulously planned to ensure that functional zones and storage spaces were seamlessly integrated into the design. For instance, in the kitchen, a custom niche was created to house a refrigerator over 90 cm wide, ensuring that the overall composition remained sleek and cohesive. Similarly, discreet niches were designed for washing machines in the guest bathroom, with the laundry area cleverly concealed behind a curtain.

The couple's preference for contrasting light and dark tones, complemented by cool shades and blue hues, set the tone for the apartment's aesthetic. The entire interior is harmoniously crafted with subtle gray-blue hues, while the dark gray Valcucine kitchen stands out with its striking matte glass elements.

Given the owners' connection to yoga and nature, the project incorporated noble, natural materials for the finishes. Large windows with low sills, framed in wood, enhance the cozy atmosphere of the space, and each windowsill doubles as a seat for enjoying the view and the carefully placed houseplants. “For each room, I meticulously designed the lighting, considering all possible usage scenarios,” notes the interior designer, pointing to the special lighting in the bathrooms that beautifully highlights the expressive texture of the ceramic granite. The Salvatori marble in the guest bathroom is particularly impressive, thanks to the artfully arranged lighting.

The attention to detail extends to the furnishings and decor, all chosen with great care and dedication. The bedroom, for example, is adorned with the elegant Dudet chair by Patricia Urquiola for Cassina, paired with a minimalist vanity table from Living Divani and wallpapers made of rapidly renewable abaca fibers by Philipp Jeffries. The living room features a vibrant polyptych from the "Happiness Pills" series by artist Asya Feoktistova, a piece showcased at the Cosmoscow exhibition and now serving as a dynamic focal point within the interior.

Ariana Ahmad’s vision has seamlessly brought together art and functionality, resulting in a light, modern, and well-thought-out space.
