A Celebration of Rationalist Heritage and Design

The hotel, curated by Patricia Urquiola, perfectly combines its distinctive colorful and sophisticated design with the rigor of Rationalist architecture. The timeless elegance of the interior design creates a strong link with the 'Milanese' style, establishing a seamless connection between the interior and exterior of the hotel.

Patricia Urquiola beautifully pays homage to the existing architecture, enhancing its external structure while ensuring the interior design follows the coherence and rhythm of the vertical lines of the façade.  

Originally designed in the 1950s by the esteemed Italian architect Pietro Lingeri, a leading figure of Italian Rationalism, the building’s heritage is celebrated through its geometric graphics present on the walls, floors – true marble carpets – and ceiling, that outline the interiors. The Rationalist inspiration is further reflected in the choice of finishings and stones, with a preference for Italian marbles, especially granite, which echoes the building’s facade and represents a recurring design motif. 

The project is complemented by several artworks with a fresh and contemporary vision to celebrate a point of view which is distinctively Milan. Among these, a mesmerizing artwork by Tim Walker – world renowned and celebrated fashion photographer – takes centre stage in the Living lounge, representing Milan’s world-renowned expertise in design, fashion, art, architecture, and fashion.

The lobby and Living lounge floor and ceiling represent a further reference to Rationalist geometries and checkerboards of the façade, creating a warm yet glossy atmosphere thanks to its shiny mirror ceiling, large semicircular embracing sofas, high leather stools at the great green marble counter, and dark blue and light green armchairs in the lounge. All furniture pieces have been harmonically chosen with rigorous and contemporary lines, most of them designed by Patricia Urquiola for Cassina, Andreu World and Moroso.

Stay In Style: Guest Rooms and Suites

The hotel’s 101 elegantly designed guestrooms and 15 suites reflect the spirit of Milanese art, culture, and design, seamlessly combining timeless elegance with contemporary touches. The selected materials, such as walnut wood, Fior di Pesco marble, backlit brass and printed glass reflect Milan in its colors and character. The Deluxe and Premiere rooms feature modular Poliform furniture, cozy seating, and custom artworks with a smooth continuity between the sleeping area and the bathroom. For those seeking both an indoor and outside layout, the Studio with Balcony offers a stylish accommodation, with the option for interconnecting rooms. Details like green ceramic mushroom lamps, geometric wool rugs, Poliform seating, and terracotta vases, all contribute to the eye-catching Italian aesthetic. Furnished with a balcony or terrace, each Junior Suite includes a modular corner sofa and mirror-topped drink bar, providing prime time for leisure.

A masterpiece in Milanese style, the Brera Suite is the ideal option for those seeking the advantages of a high-end decor apartment. The indoor space includes a large bedroom leading into a separate lounge, that opens onto a spacious 121 sqm furnished terrace, with a stunning view over Brera narrow and bustling streets. A semi-circular vibrant blue sofa in the lounge is strategically placed to offer a perfect view of the large terrace, which is accessible through floor-to-ceiling glass doors.

The Presidential Milanese Suite offers an expansive living room complete with a dining area with enveloping Dudet armchairs designed by Patricia Urquiola for Cassina. The Milanese suite embraces fluidity between the interior and the exterior, with two spectacular connecting terraces accessible through wide glass doors offering both an expansive yet cozy lounge area and a dining table for up to 10 people, surrounded by rich green with spectacular views over Milanese rooftops. Enriched with a walk-in shower, egg bathtub, and double vanity area, the en-suite bathroom is a haven for self-indulgence.

Il design dell’hotel, curato da Patricia Urquiola, combina perfettamente il suo carattere distintivo, colorato e sofisticato con il rigore dell'architettura razionalista. L'eleganza senza tempo dell’interior design crea un forte legame con lo stile "milanese", stabilendo una connessione armoniosa tra l'interno e l'esterno dell'edificio.

Patricia Urquiola rende omaggio in modo magistrale all'architettura esistente, valorizzando la struttura esterna e lasciando che il design degli interni rispetti la coerenza e il ritmo delle linee verticali della facciata.

Originariamente progettato negli anni '50 dal rinomato architetto italiano Pietro Lingeri, figura di spicco del Razionalismo Italiano, l'edificio ha una ricca storia che viene celebrata attraverso le geometrie presenti sulle pareti, sui pavimenti – veri e propri tappeti di marmo – e sui soffitti. L'ispirazione razionalista si riflette ulteriormente nella scelta delle finiture e delle pietre, con una predilezione per i marmi italiani, in particolare il granito, che richiama la facciata dell'edificio e rappresenta un motivo ricorrente del design.

Il progetto è arricchito da numerose opere d'arte con una visione fresca e contemporanea per riconsegnare un punto di vista distintamente milanese. Tra queste, spicca un'opera ipnotica di Tim Walker, celebre fotografo di moda di fama mondiale, che occupa una posizione centrale nel Living Lounge, rappresentando il ruolo chiave di Milano nei settori del design, della moda, dell'arte, dell'architettura e del fashion.

Il pavimento e il soffitto della lobby e del piano terra – nella lounge Living -  richiamano ulteriormente le geometrie razionaliste e le scacchiere della facciata, creando un'atmosfera calda ma al tempo stesso luminosa grazie al soffitto a specchio. L'ambiente è arricchito da comodi divani semicircolari avvolgenti, alti sgabelli in pelle presso il maestoso bancone in marmo verde e poltrone in tonalità di blu scuro e verde chiaro. Tutti gli arredi sono stati scelti in armonia con linee rigorose e contemporanee, la maggior parte dei quali disegnati da Patricia Urquiola per Cassina, Andreu World e Moroso.

Camere e Suite

Le 101 eleganti camere e le 15 suite dell'hotel riflettono lo spirito dell'arte, della cultura e del design milanesi, combinando in modo naturale eleganza senza tempo e tocchi contemporanei. I materiali selezionati, come il legno di noce, il marmo Fior di Pesco, il bronzo retroilluminato e il vetro stampato, riflettono Milano nei suoi colori e nel suo carattere. Le camere Deluxe e Premiere presentano arredi modulari Poliform, comode zone salotto e opere d'arte, in continuità tra la zona notte e il bagno. Per chi predilige una soluzione con anche spazi esterni, lo Studio con Balcone offre un alloggio elegante, con la possibilità di camere comunicanti. Dettagli come eleganti lampade a forma di fungo, tappeti geometrici, sedute Poliform e vasi in terracotta contribuiscono all'eleganza dell’ambiente. Con balcone o terrazza, ogni Junior Suite include salotto modulare e mobile bar, perfetti per un momento di relax.

Lo spazio interno include un’ampia camera da letto che si apre su un salotto separato e conduce a una spaziosa terrazza di 121 m² con una vista mozzafiato sul dedalo di viuzze di Brera.
