Set on the hill of Montmartre, the "Checkered Future: Sacré Coeur" installation, by Vans, along with design partners PLAYLAB, INC. and California Skateparks, marries the aesthetic of the Basilica de Sacré Coeur with Vans’ signature Checkerboard across a two-part installation spanning the Butte Montmartre. The installation features a large-scale skate bowl at the base of the steps and a checkerboard DJ platform at the top of the hill, overlooking Paris.

Checkered Future: Sacré Coeur is made of wood and foam rubber and painted to resemble the stone that was once quarried on the site. The bowl is concrete.

The installation has been designed so that the elements of which it is composed carry an important visual weight, given the presence of the Basilica above.

At the end of the event, the pieces of the structures were removed. They will be used for a future installation.
