Raymond Jungles, Inc. (RJI) is a dynamic, creative and ecologically sensitive landscape architecture firm practicing from its studio on the banks of the Miami River in downtown Miami. The South Florida firm has maintained a local and international presence since 1981, completing many award-winning projects of varying complexities. RJI has created gardens in eleven countries including Antigua, Anguilla, the Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, China, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama and St. Kitts and Nevis. Our gardens are expressive of their region and the time in which they were created. We endeavor to provide as much supportive habitat on each project, as is appropriate, to put back some of what has been lost to the local and migratory fauna. The recurring comment, “it looks like it has always been here,” is a direct result of our goal to strive for timelessness and beauty. The initial focus is on the experiences that the spaces we conceive will ultimately provide. Through sound ecological practices, we ensure that the spaces will be as inspirational as possible. They will educate one on the benefits of human coexistence with the natural world. Aesthetically, we compose gardens to entice participation and soothe the psyche. Garden design is an art form, and art should elevate the human spirit. All of our designs begin with defining spatial possibilities and experiences. Poetic interpretation, “what should it be” not “what could it be?” informs our process. Bringing people closer to nature, creating space that is inspirational, advancing curiosity, knowledge and appreciation of the relationships between people, nature and art are our goals. RJI is the recipient of 35 Design Awards from the Florida Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, including thirteen Awards of Excellence and four Frederic B. Stressau Awards. The firm has also received a Professional Award from the National Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. The firm’s projects have been featured in more than 30 books, including Raymond Jungles’ two monographs, titled Ten Landscapes and The Colors of Nature: Subtropical Gardens by Raymond Jungles. RJI has been profiled in The New York Times’ Art and Design section, and the firm’s work has appeared in over 100 national and international publications.
