Known worldwide as one of the most influential brands for audio and video equipment, Grundig has recently entered the household appliances sector. Founded in post-war Germany by radio dealer Max Grundig, the company quickly became Europe's most prominent radio equipment manufacturer. Always in step with the times, Grundig brought to the market pioneering products in the fast-moving consumer electronics sector. Transformed into a limited company in the 1970s, Grundig came under the control of Philips. However, the partnership came to an end in the late '90s. Grundig then invested in new headquarters and production processes and was still setting the standard in the rapidly-developing home entertainment field. High production costs brought the company to the brink of bankruptcy, averted by its own employees. In 2007, Grundig became part of Arcelik A.Ş., a Turkish manufacturer of household appliances and part of the Koç Holding group. Thanks to Arcelik's expertise, Grundig debuted its first home appliances in 2013, becoming the only European brand that could supply a full range of domestic products from electronics to kitchen, home entertainment and small appliances.
