Alvaro Carrillo Achitecture
Málaga, 1986. Architect from the European University of Madrid (2013). He is currently developing his master's final project "The Parliament of Nature" at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. As a researcher and lecturer, he was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport during the 2013-2014 academic year. He has been an assistant professor of projects at UEM (2013-2014), as well as a lecturer and assistant professor of master’s and bachelor's courses at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) from 2015 to 2016.

In 2018-2019, he directed the project course “Forensic-Hacker Architects” at the University of Alicante and has participated in numerous seminars and conferences at universities and European institutions to present his work, such as the Technical School of Málaga, Granada, Camilo José Cela University of Madrid, European University of Madrid, and University of Technology Sydney. He has been part of and collaborated with national and international teams.

Together with the team formed by DRST, DRAWING STRATEGIES, they won the Europan 13 (2015), and along with Carmen Blanco, Jorge Lopez, and Fake Industries, they were finalists in the Guggenheim Helsinki competition (2016). In 2017, he founded the studio "Alvaro Carrillo Arquitectos," based in Málaga. His projects have been exhibited in various museums and contemporary art galleries and have been published in international architecture magazines. His recent work was nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Awards 2018 and included in the 2018 Venice Biennale. Among other awards, he received the MatCoam Madrid 2019, the Málaga Architecture Sustainability Award 2020, and was a finalist in the latest edition of Arquia Proxima.

Currently, he is developing projects in tropical environments, aiming to turn these contexts into a laboratory for material and formal experimentation. This has marked a turning point in his work since 2019.
