The owners wanted to settle in a green and quiet setting on the outskirts of the capital. As their children grow up, they need more autonomy, while still retaining a foothold in the family cocoon... The idea is to create a 'nest' where intimacy is preserved, where each can live independently and in harmony with the other... A reflection on the family, its connections, its sharing and its need for intimacy...

For this project, it's the location, the trees, the views, the slope and the orientation that guide our thinking.

Avoiding trees, preserving the soul of the place, minimizing the impact on the environment to integrate the family's recharging and unifying refuge... The idea is to set up in place of the former tennis court, taking advantage of the levelling orchestrated at the time to organize the functions around this clearing which has now become 'natural'. A "controlled" nature at the center of the nest and a natural environment all around, with undergrowth, ivy, ferns...

A simple volumetry, consisting of a flat-roofed volume superimposed on a plinth, creating a series of terraces to follow the course of the sun and occupy the site according to the time of day. The pedestal blends into the topography of the site, leaving nothing visible from the public space and creating the heart of the project at its center. It is clad in a beige stone with a tapered bond, affirming its anchorage to the terrain. The 'day' volume is concealed by glazed frames and semi-reflective matt glazing, blending in with the surrounding vegetation.

Only the horizontal fascia of the roof appears to be present, standing out like a levitating horizontal line...

The program is built around a "controlled" outdoor space and swimming pool. The "night" volume is built at the bottom of the slope, on the edge of the former sports field, allowing the base to disappear into the ground.

The day volume overlooks the clearing, using the roofs of the plinth to create terraces that continue the living room. The plinth is designed in a U-shape to follow the contours of the land and create an intimate space at the heart of the project. This intimacy is reinforced by the retaining walls, which help to conceal the heart of the home from the public space. The large trees complete the setting, giving the ensemble its character by filtering light through the foliage.

Les propriétaires souhaitent s’installer dans un cadre verdoyant et calme en bordure de la capitale. Les enfants grandissent, ils ont besoin de plus d’autonomie tout en gardant un point de chute dans le cocon familial… L’idée est de créer un ‘nid’ où l’intime est préservé, où chacun puisse vivre en indépendance et en harmonie avec l’autre… Une réflexion sur la famille, ses connexions, ses partages et ses besoins d’intimité…

LA DEMARCHE

Pour ce projet, c’est uniquement le lieu, les arbres, les vues, la déclivité, l’orientation qui guident la réflexion.

Eviter les arbres, préserver l’âme du lieu, minimiser l’impact sur l’environnement pour intégrer le refuge ressourçant et fédérateur des propriétaires… L’idée est de s’implanter en lieu et place de l’ancien terrain de tennis, de profiter du nivellement orchestré à l’époque pour organiser les fonctions autour de cette clairière devenue maintenant ‘naturelle’. Une nature ‘maitrisée’ au centre du nid et un milieu naturel tout autour fait de sous-bois, de lierres, de fougères…

LE CADRE

Un quartier résidentiel, une pente continue, une végétation dense … A l’origine, le terrain d’un demi-hectare fait partie intégrante de la propriété voisine. Il accueille l’ancien terrain de tennis encastré dans la pente continue du terrain. Entouré de grands arbres, cet ancien terrain de sport se révèle une clairière dans un espace boisé.

VOLUMETRIE ET MATERIALITE

Une volumétrie simple, faite d’un volume à toiture plate qui se superpose à un socle, dégageant par la même occasion une série de terrasse permettant de suivre la course du soleil et d’occuper les lieux en fonction du moment de la journée. Un socle qui s’intègre dans la topographie du lieu, ne laissant rien transparaitre depuis l’espace public et créant le coeur du projet en son centre. Il est revêtu d’une pierre beige à l’appareillage effilé affirmant l’ancrage au terrain. Le volume ‘jour’, quant à lui, s’efface tantôt par l’emploi de châssis vitrés, tantôt par la mise en oeuvre d’une vitrage mat semi-réfléchissant, confondant la façade à la végétation environnante.

Seul le bandeau horizontal de la toiture semble présent et se signale comme un trait horizontal en lévitation…

L’IMPLANTATION

Le programme s’articule autour d’un espace extérieur ‘contrôlé’ et de la piscine. Le volume ‘nuit’ s’inscrit en bas de la pente, aux limites de l’ancien terrain de sport, laissant le socle disparaitre dans le terrain. Le volume ‘jour’ surplombe la clairière et utilise les toitures du socle pour dégager des terrasses en continuité du séjour.

Le socle est travaillé en ‘U’ pour d’une part épouser le relief du terrain et d’autre part créer un lieu intime au coeur du projet. Cette intimité est renforcée par les murs de soutènement qui participe à dissimuler le coeur de l’habitation depuis l’espace public. Les grands arbres viennent parfaire l’implantation donnant son caractère à l’ensemble par un lumière filtrée au travers du feuillage.
